Eyelash extensions are a young industry and people tend to feel unsure about getting the service. However, you can find an answer to the most common questions I get here. I hope that will make you feel better. Getting your lashes is just like getting your nails done or teeth whitened. It is not a necessity but it is something you can do for yourself.
Question 1: Do extensions make my natural lashes fall out prematurely?
No, properly applied extensions are not going to damage natural lashes. Please do not pressure your lash stylist for longer, thicker lashes. Ask your stylist what is the maximum you can carry.
Question 2: How often should I get my lashes filled?
If you properly follow the after care, your lashes should last 2-3 weeks until your next appointment. Check in the service description what is considered a touchup appointment.
Question 3: Can I wash my face with eyelash extensions?
Yes, you should wash your face and lashes every day with water. Otherwise, you will let face oils and debris to remain on lashes, causing worst retention and even leading to an infection. I would strongly recommend using a lash shampoo every other day to make sure your lashes are squeaky clean.
Question 4: Can I use a lash serum?
It is a controversial question. You definitely should avoid oil based serums. If you are getting a lash growth serum, make sure to do your research. Some of them help you grow your lashes longer and thicker but they end up being weaker after the treatment.
Question 5: Can I wear makeup with eyelash extensions?
Yes, however it is recommended to avoid heavy eye makeup and oil based products. Oils generally cause the adhesive bond to break down and that effects in eyelash extensions falling off. For eye makeup: do not wear mascara. It is so hard to get off, you will damage your natural lashes trying. It is also best to avoid eyeliners but if you choose to use it, please make sure it’s a water based product. Also, keep in mind, glitter is very hard to get off.
